Once again, McKEON is invited to provide ICC certified continuing education!

Approximately forty regulatory personnel from the City of San Antonio, Texas gathered on August 16th in their second-floor training area. David Dodge, VP of Business and Code Development at McKEON, shared a detailed presentation on the atrium provisions as found in the locally adopted 2018 International Building Code.

The meeting was placed on the calendar through the combined efforts of Clay Sturdivant, Architectural Sales & Marketing Manager for Johnson Equipment and Charlotte Barrett, Special Projects Manager for the City of San Antonio.

Mr. Dodge’s ICC-certified seminar examined the critical IBC vertical space provisions. He specifically addressed the difference between the design of the atrium in Section 404 and the design of appurtenant atrium component features such as smoke exhaust systems from Section 909. David also covered code requirements governing openings in rated separations and opening protectives as they affect the five walls of the IBC. The meeting generated an engaging learning environment and enlightening building code review. However, the high point of the morning was the breakfast tacos that the Johnson Equipment team picked up for everyone on the way to the seminar!
