McKEON participated in DASMA’s mid-year meetings in Chicago.

Members of the Door & Access Systems Manufacturers Association (DASMA) met at the Hilton Chicago O’Hare Hotel and Convention Center in June for three days of instruction, committee work, and organizational coordination. David Dodge and Doug Zachary attended the event representing McKEON. McKEON is an active member in the Rolling Door Division, based on expertise as a leading manufacturer of wide span opening protectives.

DASMA is North America’s preeminent trade association of manufacturers of garage doors, rolling doors, high performance doors, garage door openers, vehicular gate openers, and access control products. Its members’ products represent more than 95 percent of the US market for the industry. DASMA employs a full-time technical director to represent the industry before governmental agencies and code bodies. As the authoritative voice of the industry, DASMA plays a vital role by representing the interests of door and access systems manufacturers in the marketplace and the regulatory arena. Architects and distributors alike can thank DASMA for promoting better performing products and greater professionalism in the industry.

Committee sessions included discussion topics specific to the door industry’s current needs and trends. Knowledgeable representatives from each manufacturer weighed in on critical issues from performance technology to code and standard oversight. David and Doug contributed within the areas of training and education, model building code compliance criteria, and overall support of DASMA. Many participants, including McKEON, welcomed on-going and future-related task assignments. As an added benefit, the social atmosphere of the hotel venue promoted peer engagement and networking.
